About the Church
What We're About
We are commited to becoming more and more like Jesus. That means that we love and care for other people, we know and understand the Bible, and that we see God helping each of us to be the very best. We all have a ways to grow, and we welcome people who want to grow closer to Jesus, too. We don't expect people to be perfect - how could we, since we all have our flaws? - but we believe that together we become better people as God changes us. And when the people God has made "better" work together, a lot of good can result.
Because we have seen what a difference God makes in our own lives, we think it's important to let others know about Jesus and help them on a path toward God.

The Present
We believe the church is on the edge of experiencing God's blessing as we grow. We are stepping out into new areas of ministry and seeking ways to have a positive impact on our community.
History

We trace our roots back to 1841, when Sardis Baptist Church was formed. After some reorganization and moving, that church became Two Lick Baptist Church, and the church was located in Two Lick from 1844 until 1944. After the Two Lick Baptist Church burned down in 1941, the church moved to Germantown and built a new building, the building we worship in now, in 1944. We have a few church members who have belonged to the church for six or seven decades, and they have many stories to tell. We value the faith of those who have gone before us, and the demonstration of God's faithfulness over 166 years and counting.
Vision for the Future
We see the need to tell younger generations the good news of Jesus. We want to become a place where families come, knowing that their children will be safe and well cared for as they learn about Jesus and living the Christian life. Parents will be able to help each other in practical ways, and become leaders and followers of Jesus. As children grow into middle school and high school years, they will receive Biblical guidance in developing their relationship with God, maintaining their commitment to God when the world is against them, and having an impact on their neighbors and friends who don't know about Jesus. In the long term, we want to impact the world through the children who grow up in the church.
To make this come about, we need a few "pioneer" families who will come with their children and help us to grow. Your children will be loved and treated as special people - just as they are! Together, we can help build a strong, successful program that will help your children grow into godly, successful adults. Are you interested?
